Medical Students

Dear Medical Students,

Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management. We hope that your educational experience with our faculty and residents will generate a great deal of interest in the specialty. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to learn as much as possible in two weeks about the art and science of alleviating pain for patients. The development of safe anesthesia is viewed as one of the major discoveries in medicine in the 20th century. These advances have made it possible to perform surgeries that could not have been done prior to these developments. We feel that the educational program we are providing will be of use to you, even if your future will not be in anesthesiology. If, however, you would like to discuss a future in anesthesia, please feel free to contact Dr. Michael C. Lewis (Director for the Residency Program,) Dr. Edgar Pierre, or myself at anytime. We will be happy to discuss with you what excites us about this branch of medicine.

Sincerely,

David Lubarsky MD, MBA
